Dr. Abreu is an Associate Professor of History and the Director of the Center for Latino and Latin American Studies at Northern Illinois University. Her research and teaching focus on the history of Cuban and Latinx communities in the United States on the role of race, nationalism, and migration in Cuban and Spanish Caribbean diasporic communities in the United States, with a particular emphasis on race, migration, and popular culture. Dr. Abreu is known for her dedication to advocating for the Latinx community on campus and her commitment to diversity and inclusion. Dr. Abreu brings expertise in cultural awareness, community engagement, and academic leadership to the FVMS board.
Matt is the owner and lead plumber at Michels Plumbing, a well-respected and family-owned plumbing service in Aurora that is known for its reliability and customer satisfaction. With over 20 years of experience in the industry, Matt has built a reputation for providing high-quality plumbing solutions, from simple repairs to complex installations. Matt brings valuable skills in problem-solving, project management, building maintenance and customer service to the board of directors for FVMS.
Josh is an owner and active board member of multiple businesses and a software engineer with over 20 years of experience managing people, projects, and businesses. As a business owner, Josh brings expertise in business/project budgeting, building management/maintenance, and strategic planning to the board. His deep knowledge in software engineering and network design/security makes him a key leader in all tech-related matters for FVMS. Josh has long been an advocate of the Montessori education methodology and was a student of a Montessori education.
Mark has an MBA in financial management and is a seasoned professional at BMO, specializing in commercial banking and financial services. With over 15 years of experience in the industry, with his expertise in financial analysis and business loan underwriting. Mark is known for his expertise in strategic financial planning and his commitment to delivering exceptional service to his clients. Mark's role, for both the FVMS board and as an advisor to the school's Executive Director, is in the areas of financial oversight, strategic planning, and community engagement.
Randy is a partner at Franco Moroney Buenik, LLC, specializing in civil litigation with a focus on construction, employment, and public entity litigation. Randy's clients include both private schools and public school districts. With extensive experience in defending clients against a wide range of claims, he is known for his strategic approach and effective legal solutions. Randy's legal expertise makes him an excellent source of knowledge on all things legal, including compliance, risk management, and strategic planning for the FVMS board.
Jake has more than a decade of corporate finance experience across investment banking, private equity, and global corporate development. Jake has held senior finance roles in fortune 100 and other public companies, including testing, inspection and certification, not-for-profit healthcare and medical devices. Jake is certified public accountant (Inactive) and lives in Saint Charles, Illinois with his wife Ambre, son Wesley (current student at FVMS) and two Scottish Terriers, Willow and Kiwi.
